We’re at NeoCon Fair in Chicago. In the famous Mart we have visited stands of our partners and later did a little sightseeing. Find more news on our LinkedIn channel, right now together with Tomek Rygalik we say hello standing next to the famous Cloud Gate.

The sculpture designed by Anish Kapoor (2004 – 2006) is the landmark attracting thousands of tourists to Millennium Park. Sized 10 × 20 × 12,8 m, it’s made from polished stainless steel. Due to its scale and a lack of traditional seams, Cloud Gate plays with traditional perspective. Buildings and people seem to get smaller, giving way to the sky. Kapoor himself likes to mention yet another contrast: the city, with its vertical lines, here reflected in a horizontal way.

Interestingly, when the contest for making the sculpture was announced, Jeff Koons was Kapoor’s rival and submitted a project for a giant slide. Eventually this project was rejected due to being unavailable for handicapped persons.
