What is the opposite of success? The most common answer is “failure”. But according to Wojciech Herra it’s really mediocrity, a situation when you don’t allow yourself to fail.

In our Dobra Showroom we had the pleasure to host his lecture, co-organised by Scandinavian-Polish Chamber of Commerce. Wojciech Herra considers himself to be first of all a salesman, someone who is experienced and passionate about efficient sales. Currently he is a valued speaker and motivator, leading his boutique training and consultancy company.

Wojciech Herra is a sports psychologist. For him, theory of sport is a rich source of inspiration for efficient sales and personnel management. In football, a striker often needs many scoring opportunities in order to score one goal. He shouldn’t feel discouraged when he misses because that would decrease his chances next time he tries. Wojciech Herra stresses that very often employees fear taking risks because they are afraid of being reprimanded by their supervisor. If they don’t give themselves a chance to make a mistake, they won’t be able to go beyond the usual pattern, escape mediocrity.

Of course, there were more examples from the world of sport. Within the frame of his philosophy Value Based Leadership, Wojciech Herra presented many practical solutions which help employees catch wind in their sails.
