We see the theme of this year’s fair (“STRENGTH”) as the potential of design, which can give office, hotel and commercial spaces not only attractive appearance but most importantly, turn them into places where we’d like to spend time. Not only furniture influences how pleasurable it is to be in a given space. It’s important to think holistically. That’s why “biophilic design” is increasingly popular among architects.
Literal translation of biophilia amounts to a love for nature. It brings to mind plants – and it’s a good direction but doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s not enough to include a space full of plants in an office or a hotel. In order to have a space in the spirit of biophilic design, it’s essential to take care of air quality, selecting natural materials, diverse lighting with optimal parameters as well as noise level. In other words: it’s about creating a full experience, complete with natural light and stimuli. Only combining those elements will ensure the users’ well-being.
We will present a teaser of this approach at Marro Warsaw Home Expo stand. Our partners in this project are young, Polish companies – Green LIV and Nyquista. Both channel personal passions and professional qualifications of their founders.
Hanna Dürr and Paweł Koziński from Green LIV design, deliver and service greenery inside buildings. – We design and manufacture steel constructions, used for hanging plants. This way, we are able to make the space green without sacrificing the floor. It’s very important e.g. in restaurants or offices where every centimeter of space makes money. – they add.
They are happy to take part in scientific research, testing how a well designed space influences people. –Together with our partners we’re exploring the world of healthy lighting and acoustics. This holistic approach makes space healthy for everyone. – say the Green LIV founders.
One of our aforementioned partners is a Polish company, Nyquista Acoustic Design. As leaders within the field of acoustics on the Polish market, they design, conduct acoustic measurements, manufacture and sell acoustic panels and mattes. – During the previous 8 years of our activity we have developed over 300 products for acoustic fittings and completed over 500 projects. – says Marlena Jakubowska from Nyquista Design Department.
In the Marro stand at Warsaw Home Expo you’ll be able to see e.g. the EcoWall Pattern acoustic wall, made from pressed polyester yarns, recycled from PET bottles. – Their main advantage is enhancing the acoustic performance. The innovative material has excellent soundproofing properties in class A – explains Marlena Jakubowska. – Special 3D pattern of the wall additionally dissipates the soundwaves, thus reducing reverb in a space.
