Giulio Cappellini, our special guest at Warsaw Home Expo 2018 fair is someone… who needs an introduction.
Everyone knows him as a designer but that’s not his only talent. Upon entering the family company, Cappellini kickstarted a creative evolution which made the brand one of the leading trendsetters in the world and a synonym for modern, avantgarde design.
The Time magazine included him in a list of the most influential people in the design community. Giulio Cappellini is also a prolific talent hunter who led designers such as Tom Dixon, Jasper Morrison, the Bouroullec brothers, Ora Ito and Marcel Wanders to the very top of the design world where they are today.
Having finished not only architecture but also business management studies, Giulio Cappellini has been able to merge trends and style which others could consider opposing. The brand’s offer is best described as “modern eclectism”: the collection includes both the simplicity of Jasper Morrison and daring of Marcel Wanders. Many models have already attained iconic status and belong to collections of renown museums: Victoria & Albert Museum, MOMA or Pompidou Center. Cappellini Collection is a result of creativity and a love for experiments.
Cappellini’s openness and friendly demenaour leads to many surprising projects. There are also Polish accents – among those who designed for Cappellini are Mac Stopa and Tomek Rygalik. Perhaps the pull of the brand and Giulio Cappellini himself can be summed by his saying – I prefer longsellers to bestsellers.
Giulio Cappellini will deliver a lecture on the connections between design and business during Warsaw Home Expo 2018. Thursday, October 4, 14:20, main stage in Hall F.
