One of the questions which repeatedly arises in our conversations with customers is a doubt: is it possible to connect sanitation requirements with the aesthetics of the office? The good news is: it’s possible! Moreover, it’s worth taking care of this not only for the sake of aesthetic consistency of the office but also keeping the employees wellbeing in mind.
We are getting used to the thought that the epidemic will last “for a while”. We also expect its next waves in the autumn-winter season, which in our climate even without the coronavirus is conducive to infections and illnesses. The ubiquitous rules, guidelines and restrictions, as well as disinfection stations and the smell of cleaning products can in the long run have a negative influence on our mental state. Who would want to live in a lab or hospital?
That’s why it’s important to limit laboratory or hospital associations, while retaining the necessary caution. Design, together with a sense of humour, can be of use here. A tongue-in-cheek reference to a treatment room (colourful Tolix counter for disinfectors, a pop-art poster of a nurse or Maria – a hanging lamp with test tubes designed by Miss Jurek) can help ease the tension. A care for health and safety but in a tongue-in-cheek way? It can work better than rigid regulations.
