Orgatec 2018 showed that a change in thinking about designing office space is more important than new products. How to uderstand this shift in perspective? Work culture is a starting point.

Two years ago in Cologne simple product presentations were dominant. This year the most interesting exhibitions showcased comprehensive visions and concepts. – Furniture used to be a means of achievieng a goal instead of a goal in itself. It’s an important change, especially since it applies not only to fair expositions but is also increasingly visible in office space design as a whole. – says Robert Pełka, Marro founder and CEO.

We didn’t want to bulid an office imitation at our stand. – stresses Claudia Michalke European Sales Manager at Haworth. – In our every day work, we are focused on delivering furniture and solutions which enhance the culture of innovation and creativity. This time, we decided to create a space which will foster interaction, conversations and exchanging ideas. Virtual tour through Haworth’s stand is available here.

How does office arrangement influence office culture? Of course in the long run a sofa won’t improve the well-being of employees or their efficiency. But if we look at this more broadly and look at an office as an opportunity for interaction and cooperation, we can greatly influence the employees’ productivity.

An office which is well-designed fosters commitment and strenghtens cooperation. Like Steve Jobs used to say: – Design is not what it looks like. Design is how it works.
