The coronavirus pandemic has turned the world of work as we knew it on its head. Hybrid, multi-local working in agile teams: what yesterday was just a vision of the future, is now the “new normal”. We work in digital, agile, mobile and location-independent working models. Deep work is increasingly moving into the remote sphere, with the office becoming a hub for personal exchange, co-working, creation and sharing. Decentralised working models call for new spatial concepts. How can workspaces satisfy our need for concentration, collaboration and communication in equal measure? Flexibility is the key here. How did our partners respond to these trends?

Designed as an informal workspace, the Buddyhub Desk by Pedrali is a functional and efficient workstation where users can concentrate and isolate. Buddyhub Desk features a perimeter sound-absorbing panel that embraces a solid laminate top, creating a sort of enclosed niche that ensures acoustic and visual privacy.

The Outline Highback Work by Muuto combines the soft, deep seat and clean refined lines of the Outline series with a highback element and functional elements, allowing for the design to create an acoustic and spatial shelter to work and focus on the given task at hand. The design has an integrated storage room alongside a cable outlet that can be added for easy power access. The Outline Highback Work has a timeless yet modern expression that makes it an ideal fit in any open-plan space, hospitality setting, workplace or public area.

Aeeri by Arper plays with the idea of lightness – its simultaneously incredibly thin (the tabletop has only 4 mm) and sturdy. The four legs are very light and sleek, and the five parts are simply screwed together. The bended steel plate is just a fine line, like a drawing.

The new dB Modular sofa by Abstracta is soft, and welcoming. It creates perfect conditions for a pleasant soundscape. The product is designed by Thomas Bernstrand to make public spaces and work spaces less rigid, and more adaptable. Textile waste from Abstracta’s own factory is used as acoustic filling. Thus, both the environmental footprint and the level of low-frequency noise are reduced.
