Silence from A to Z

“Silence from A to Z” is a survey of selected products enhancing acoustic comfort in offices, restaurants and hotels, presented by architect Aleksandra Zalska during the first edition of “Marro acoustically”.

Acoustic solutions is one of the most dynamically developing categories of contract equipment. There is a growing awareness of optimal working conditions, above all, of the need of silence and proper conditions for focused work. In order to meet those requirements designers and companies develop their portfolio with not only increasingly good acoustic parameters in mind but also aesthetics of the products, so that they fit to modern projects.

Today architects and investors will find acoustic solutions in almost any category: phone booths, acoustic pods, panels, flooring, upholstered furniture, curtains and lighting.

Often these are modular products, which enhances their elasticity. For instance panels can be composed into various configurations and fitted both on the walls or on the ceiling. They can be used both for sound absorption and division of space.

Increasingly popular are also curtains by the German company Gerriets. Designed with theatres in mind, they are also a perfect fit for offices and other spaces in need of a conference room but without a separate room. Subdividing space with a curtain provides it with silence and a sense of privacy.
