Marro in the land of fire – we present another project we will complete abroad. In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, we will furnish the food court in the Podium Mall shopping centre. We invite you to view the photo gallery from our visit to Baku.
We will supply Pedrali, MDD, sCab, Loope, Vondom, Normann Copenhagen, Fameg, Bejot and Slide furniture among others to the Podium Mall in Baku. In addition, we will make a number of custom-made products, including furniture with waste bins and space for plants, planters, Mevaco perforated metal sheets, a steel structure made of painted metal profiles, tables and infographics on a painted board panel.
We also had the opportunity to do some sightseeing in Baku itself. It is a fascinating city where history intertwines with modernity. The beautiful old town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the historic centre, Maiden Tower and Shirvanshahs’ Palace being particularly interesting. The city exudes a sense of opulence, which is a result of oil and natural gas extraction.
Other must-see attractions in Baku include the Heydər Əliyev Centre, designed by Zaha Hadid, which houses a museum and a concert hall, as well as the symbol of Baku – the Flame Towers, which resemble flames.
Baku also appears in films – the local oil wells were featured in one of the James Bond films, ‘The World Is Not Enough’, as well as in the Polish film ‘Przedwiośnie’ (‘The Spring to Come’), an adaptation of Stefan Żeromski’s novel.
